Internships
This work study program is designed to accommodate a variety of economical and time availability situations for persons interested in staying 2 weeks to as long as it is beneficial to both parties. In exchange for weekly work hours on the farm, participants will receive education and/or consulting services. There is no money exchange and participants are responsible for their own food and personal care needs. They are encouraged to camp and may utilize the cabin when not occupied by guests. After observing internship programs for several years, I feel it is a very beneficial arrangement for both students and teachers. It is a very efficient way to caretake the gardens and land. I taught the interns at Frontier’s National Center for the Preservation of Medicinal Herbs on a weekly basis and found it to be an excellent way for students to learn not only about herbs but also about operating a business and personal relations. Interns help ease the stress of maintaining a living environment that enhances herbal studies. It also provides an opportunity to invest in the future of herbalism by investing in people and motivating them to pass their knowledge on to others as well. Participants must be willing and able to do inside and outdoor work- |
