Foundations of Herbalism  2008

This program meets one weekend a month for six months.  Students are welcome to come Fri. night to settle in and engage in group activities.  Teaching sessions begin at 9 a.m. Sat. and end at 3:30 Sun.  

Outdoor camping and floor space in the cabin are free. Some indoor lodging is available butwp0459d269.jpg limited - see facility rental for fees.  Other local lodging information will be sent upon request. Meals are provided Sat. and Sun. Sign up early as class size is limited to 15 students to maximize personal attention.  Program includes food, supplies, written materials, in class instruction, and personal feedback.  Cost is $1200 if paid by Mar. 15th  or $1350 after that date Some partial work exchange is available but limited so inquire early if interested.  

 

Each session includes a plant identification walk, preparations, and a system to study. Information is presented via lectures and hands on experience. Everyone is expected to keep a journal of their experiences.  Students are responsible for fulfilling all assignments before receiving a certificate of completion.

 

Subject content includes but is not limited to:

  • medicine making, formulation
  • plant identification, gardening
  • culinary cooking, wild foods
  • body care, aromatherapy,
  • flower essences, affirmations
  • earth based spirituality, energetics, and much more.

 

The format is a systems approach to plant medicine.  We will cover:

  • the nervous and muscular-skeletal systems
  • reproductive
  • digestive
  • cardiac  
  • skin and respiratory
  • immune system

 

We will discuss anatomy, function, common ailments and traditional remedies associated with each system. This is a great opportunity for those who wish to take greater responsibility for their own health care and that of their families to gain understanding about plant medicines. Professionals seeking complementary health options to enhance their business or practice will expand their perspective during this experience.  Herb school has many beneficial aspects  but the one people seem to remember most is the fun they have and the friends they make.

Reproductive system, menopause, pregnancy, children’s health, energetics, earth ceremonies, tasty medicines, aphrodisiacs

 

July 19th & 20th

Digestive system, remedies from the spice shelf, visit to farmer’s market, flower cooking, culinary delights, green drinks

 

Aug. 16th & 17th

Skin care, kitchen cosmetics, aromatherapy, bath products, flower essences

Respiratory system, cold care, hydrotherapy, personal health care plans

 

Sept. 20th & 21st

Cardiac system, immunity, aging, special formulas, legal & ethical issues, business tips, class giveaways
