Foundations of Herbalism Program
Herbal Education 2010
Foundations of Herbalism
This is the essence of our herbal studies here at Healing Heart Herbals.
The current economic situation has prompted a change in the format to
better accommodate time and energy resources. This is a great opportunity
for those committed to taking greater responsibility for their own health
care and that of their families and friends by increasing their understanding
of plant medicines. It is also ideal for professionals seeking complementary
options to enhance their business or practice. This herbal program has
many beneficial aspects but the one people seem to remember most is the
fun they have and the friends they make. A common feedback is that what
people gained is far more than plant knowledge.
Those seeking a foundation in the basic theory and practice of herbalism
have two years to complete the correspondence course and attend the required
weekend workshops. They are welcome to attend additional weekends at a
20% discounted rate to further enhance their learning experience. Cost:
$1250 includes correspondence course plus 5 weekends or a week long intensive.
Correspondence Course: This consists of written material,
handouts, and assignments that students may complete at their own pace.
These will be reviewed with written comments to increase personal understanding
of the information covered. The cost includes a total of 3 hours of phone
consulting as well. A certificate of completion will be given upon satisfactory
completion. Cost: $360
Weekend Workshops: These will take place throughout
the year. Foundations students must attend the following workshops in
order to complete the foundations program and receive a certificate of
completion- Stress Management, Medicine Making, Growing & Harvesting,
Wise Woman Magic, and Food as Medicine. These five weekends are included
in the foundations program and current information will be emailed as
additional weekends are scheduled.
Weekend gatherings include food and supplies in addition to instruction
and personal feedback. Educational sessions begin promptly at 9 a.m. on
Saturday and end at 3:30 on Sunday. Registered participants are welcome
to arrive on Friday nights to settle in. This allows them to get acquainted
and be on site bright and early the next day. Breakfast and early morning
walk are available prior to class time.
Outdoor camping and floor space in the cabin are free. Some indoor lodging
is available but limited on a first pay first serve basis. Contact us
for rental information. Other local lodging information will be sent upon

program may attend the five required weekends or 10 day intensive for
free. They may enroll in any additional weekends, classes or events at
a 20% discount during their 2 year registration period. Some partial work
